In the Bible the blowing of the shofar often announced a time of fasting. Due to popular demand, we are inviting all obedient members of the body of Christ worldwide who missed the first two fasts to do a group fast on Sunday, March 25, 2012. Welcome to a site that tries to give you spiritual food on a regular basis. We ask forgiveness for not living up that goal recently. We do need a refreshing. You who use computers often know that a page sometimes needs to be refreshed, made brand new. Our very small team of volunteers does notalways refresh you with new material. However, we can all be refreshed in Jesus every day (2 Cor. 4:16). And we can enjoy the refreshing of the Sabbath dayevery week, laying down our weekly burdens to Jesus before we enter into these “times of refreshing” (Acts 3:19-21). This day pictures the time when the whole world will see a refreshing when Jesus returns to transform this world of problems with His solution of peace, joy, and love. We hope you will explore our A-Ztopics and be refreshed as you absorb the refreshing, life-giving Word of God.

Our photo shows an exuberant Pastor Michael Porter singing at the Feast of Tabernacles in the small French-speaking nation of Benin (See Map), a neighbor to the west of Nigeria in West Africa. Pastor Michael usedsome of our materials to teach during this feast, and he wants the church he pastors to be affiliated with Freedom Church of God. We are hoping the funds will be made available to travel to Benin for the spring feasts to address the saints there in French. Please pray for our new brethren (in English or French! – or even better, in the Holy Spirit).

A recent case in Canada involved the conviction of a Muslim man who murdered members of his family, using the argument of honor killings. The judge did not buy it, and the man is going to appeal the case. Do men have such rights over women, to dominate them, rape them, and kill them? We asked this question on our Freedom Blog, and the comments came pouring in, full of controversy, that is, until someone summed it up by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to stop all mouths of controversy. We quote the comment here, and we include it in our doctrinal statement on covenants: “Men do not have a dominion right over women, nor do women have a dominion right over any man. Men have a covenant right to love, honor, protect, cherish, and comfort the woman that they have chosen to mate. Women have a covenant right to love, honor, care fore, advise, uplift, and comfort their husbands. Men and women have dominion right to rule over the Earth and all life forms within its field of influence. God never gave anyone the right to enslave another, only the right to help another prosper and develop a sense of worth.”

Is December 21, 2012 an open door to hell? For the world it may well be such a door, but it doesn't have to be that for you. “Surely, not me,” you say? But are you sure? Many Christians undermine what they derisively call the “Old” Testament, but God’s Word is never old. It is bursting with newness as the Holy Spirit opens it to our understanding. And God never calls the Hebrew part of the Bible, composing nearly three-fourths of God’s Book, old. Men added that. When only the Hebrew Scriptures existed, Jesus said we were to live by every word of God (Mat. 4:4). The New Testament gives an incomplete picture of who Jesus is. If that’s all you read, you haven’t got a clue about who the real Jesus is. How can you fully know and love Jesus if you don’t know who He is? Surprise!
